Tang Dynasty Mysteries: The Poison Conspiracy

Wei Tao, the newly-appointed chief constable of Chang'an, is thrust into a serial poisoning case, where eight elders at Beitian Welfare Institution mysteriously die. Tao rejects the hasty and erroneous conclusions of the county magistrate He Fengnian, and traces the poison to Ganlin Clinic run by female physician Jiao Yu. Suspicion arises, and Yu's widow status casts doubt on her motives. When Tao narrowly escapes poisoning, his wife Ju Niang seeks Yu's help for treatment despite being wary of her. After recovering, Tao uncovers the evil Eight-Petal Lotus array and uses the victims' handwriting to expose the culprit... As such, Yu also clears her late husband's name, and the two form a deep friendship.
