My Million-Dollar Substitute Job

Lily worked as a barmaid. Her father owed gambling debts to a gangster named Arno. Arno ordered her to pose as Grace, a socialite who had left for England years earlier, and use that identity to get close to real estate tycoon Gavin and take a family heirloom called the Rose Heart. Lily went to Gavin's house as Grace. Gavin questioned small details of her manner and her memory of things Grace should have known. Lily kept adjusting her account to cover the gaps. Over the following weeks she stayed in the house, ate at his table, and began spending time with him outside of what Arno had assigned her to do. She had left Gavin for money at an earlier point and now stated she wanted him back. She confronted Lily in private about the impersonation. Gavin began comparing the two women and voicing his doubts about which one he had been living with. Arno pressed Lily for the Rose Heart while Grace pressed her to leave the house. Details of Lily's original identity started surfacing among the household staff and within Gavin's family.
