The Widow Who Stole the Marquis's Heart

The servants at the Wilson estate work against the women hired into the household, and the marquis puts anyone he cannot place through one test after another. Jean is a widow who takes a post there as a wet nurse because her family needs the money. The marquis is Rory Wilson, whom she met at a temple a year earlier. She tells the household that her baby was born after her husband died, and she keeps out of the way. Rory finds her familiar from the first time he sees her, and he keeps setting her small tests over it. The slander from the servants gets worse and Jean holds on through it. Rory reaches the conclusion that she is the woman from the temple. One of them saves the other out of a bad situation, and after that the lie stops holding.
