From Courier to CEO

Nate worked as a courier and paid for his wife's graduate degree. At the end of it her family put him out of the house with none of his things. On the day of the divorce a man collapsed in front of him with a heart attack. The man was Archibald, the head of a wealthy family, and Nate kept him alive until help arrived. Archibald's household had been pressing his granddaughter Evelyn to marry. Evelyn offered Nate a marriage contract lasting one year and he signed it. Nate's ex-wife heard about the marriage. She joined with a rich young man from another family, and the two of them spread accusations about Nate and moved against his work. Nate stopped taking it and used his own skills against them, and both of them lost ground. He took no money from Archibald's family and built a business of his own up from the bottom. The year of the contract went on, and some way into it what was between him and Evelyn was no longer only the contract.
