Who Needs a Plot When You Have Me?

Lola Merrin has an office job. One night she stays up until morning reading a novel and gets so worked up over the heroine, who takes every abuse in silence, that she nearly gives herself a heart attack. When she opens her eyes she is inside the book, in the heroine's body. Her husband is cold to her and has money and power behind him, her adopted sister is two-faced, and her parents cannot tell who is in the wrong. Lola knows the plot, and in the plot this woman is trampled until the last page. She loses her temper. She tears into her husband to his face and pulls the adopted sister's act apart in front of people. After the anger is spent she runs into what her husband's reach actually means, and she is cornered with nowhere to go. Her ex-husband is left with no say in what she does next and has to watch it from outside. The man she ends up with is Theodore Crowe, the head of her ex-husband's family.
