A student went down on the floor on purpose, lost the pregnancy, and said Wendy Sander had pushed her. Wendy was the heiress of the richest family in Lyndale. Her grandfather had adopted four boys and told her to take one of them as a husband, and after he died the four attached themselves to the student and signed over to her what belonged to Wendy. On the student's word they had Wendy's womb taken out. Wendy's first life ended on the operating table. She wakes before any of it has happened and agrees to the marriage her family had in mind, to Logan Fowler, an officer from a military family. Both sides treat it as an arrangement. Wendy takes the property back. The four brothers back the student's claim that Wendy stole her work and put it about, and the claim comes apart with everyone watching. On the day of the wedding all four of them turn up to marry the student, and Logan handles them.
