Emily Carter believes Michael Brown lied his way into her bed. They had been together three years, they spent a night together, and by morning he was gone with no word about where. Her stepmother Sarah Carter brings Emily's father to the room and tells him Emily has already been promised to another man. They call her unfaithful, say she has shamed the Carter name, and put her out of the house. Emily goes back to the countryside and studies medicine under an old physician there. Then she finds out she is pregnant. She gives birth to quintuplets, four boys and one girl. Six years later she comes back to the city with the children and opens a clinic in the neighbourhood. The five of them have decided to find their father.
