The Mind-Editing System: My Thoughts, My Game

Sarah Moore accuses Natalie Jones of plagiarism, and everyone at the university believes Sarah. Natalie goes off the roof of the building. She opens her eyes some years earlier, before any of it happened. What she works out this time is that Sarah has been listening in on other people's inner voices, hearing the ideas as they form and passing them off as her own, which is how the celebrated genius got her reputation. Natalie binds herself to a system that edits inner voices, so that what Sarah steals is whatever Natalie decides to let her hear. She sets traps in exam work and lets Sarah walk into them, peeling the false face back a layer at a time in front of the people who took Sarah's word. Natalie takes the graduate place she was cheated out of and an invitation to the Victor family's banquet, and she does not let go of the love she let slip past her the first time.
