A Late Marriage Fairy Tale

Sabrina Rutherford's mother has had a heart attack, and the money for the operation is gone: her husband handed all of it to his sister to buy a car. Sabrina tells him she wants a divorce, that same day, and takes back the property that is hers by right. She married into the Harris family thirty years ago and has looked after every member of it since, the old and the young, and in all that time her husband has put the Harrises ahead of the home the two of them made. The next man in her life is one she once helped to light incense at a temple, three years back. When they run into each other again she finds out he is the director of a hospital. He proposes with the traditional rites in full, a marriage contract and 400 grams of solid gold, and from then on she comes first with him. Her ex-husband is admitted to hospital with a fracture. None of his sisters turns up to pay for his treatment.
