Don’t Mess With the Cold Palace Concubine

A woman wakes in the past in the body of an imperial consort who has been sent to the Cold Palace, put there on her wedding night. She decides to leave and needs money to do it, so she begins making things and selling them: a homemade soda, a washing device, small inventions, coin by coin. The buyer taking an interest in her goods is the emperor. He approaches her as a young guard rather than as himself and sets about winning her over. He then learns that the woman making the inventions is the discarded consort in the Cold Palace and that she is preparing to run, and he stops the escape. The attempt fails and she is angrier than before. She starts a new round of plans, with new arrangements and other ways out of the imperial city.
