The Sweetest Caregiver in the Deadliest Nursing Home

Ethan Hart is seventeen when he is pulled out of his own world into one where things that should not exist walk around freely and most of humanity is losing. A nursing home takes him in and puts him to work as a caregiver. Along with the job he wakes a system that pays him for looking after the residents, small rewards for meals served, medicine given, conversations sat through. The system also filters what he is allowed to perceive, which he does not know. The old people he helps into chairs and fusses over are among the most dangerous beings in existence, and every time one of them steps outside to settle something, Ethan sees a pleasant elderly person coming back from a walk. He worries about their appetites and their sleep. Outside, whatever is closing in on the last human strongholds is treating this particular building as the one place worth going around, and the residents keep asking Ethan what is for dinner.
