Ray Zhao wants his due from the shrimp farm he made profitable. His breeding method brings his cousin Felix 2 million a year, and Felix hands him a bonus of 30 thousand and puts him out. Felix steals the recipe for the Special Formula Feed and takes it that this is all he needed. Ray has 5,000 yuan that had been put aside as wedding money, and one apprentice who stays with him. With that he rents Deadwater Cove, a stretch of stagnant water that stinks and that nobody else will take. A spring runs underneath it. He builds a food chain around that water and raises a shrimp of the highest grade in it. Felix, meanwhile, raises the feed dose and his ponds collapse. He is looking at 8 million in compensation. Ray shows up with his shrimp at that point, makes 4 million on the batch, and Felix's business goes up for auction.
