They Messed With the Wrong Tenant

Leon Ray worked for wages and put money aside for five years. He handed the whole sum over as a year's rent, paid in advance, and moved in. Within days men came and put him out of the flat by force. He found afterward that the man he had paid was a sublandlord who had set the arrangement up with the person holding the actual title, and that other tenants had lost money the same way. The water was cut off, then the power. People came by to threaten him. He stayed and started collecting documents. He found the other tenants and people on the inside who would talk, and took it up through the courts. The people behind the arrangement turned out to go further up than the sublandlord.
