The Heiress Trap

Clara is married to Arthur, an heir in Manhattan, and lives in his house as something close to a ghost. Arthur paid a doctor to tell her she had terminal cancer. Under the cover of treatment, he had her sign away her family trust, and he and his mistress Vanessa kept her on psychiatric drugs and pushed her toward suicide. In a safe Clara finds the real medical report, which says she is healthy, along with a ledger showing money taken out of the trust. She goes to Vanessa and tells her Arthur has loaded her with offshore debt. The two of them agree to work together. Clara plays dead while Vanessa takes the master key to the trust. At the charity gala, where Arthur is publicly mourning his dying wife, Clara walks in alive and Vanessa puts the false diagnosis, the missing funds and the debts on the screen.
