Reborn at Ten, My Father Won't Believe Me

Elena was gravely wounded saving Baron, the leader of the Penglai Immortal Sect, and went into a coma that lasted years. Baron kept her and their daughter Stephanie at the sect. He showed the child no favor. When Stephanie was five he came back from a journey with a woman, Lilith, and a girl Stephanie's age, Renee, and installed both in his household without observing any of the usual forms. Once a year, on the night of the blood moon, the wolf demons are at their strongest, and the sect leader is required to stay and guard the mountain gate. On the blood moon of Stephanie's tenth year Baron took Lilith and Renee down to a lantern festival in the mortal world. Wolf demons attacked the sect while he was gone. Stephanie asked him for help and was refused. She forced a summons on him, and by the time he came back the sect was largely destroyed and Elena had been killed by the demons. Baron held Stephanie responsible for the attack and killed her. She woke on the day of the blood moon with the attack still ahead. She went to Baron, was refused a second time, and left for the Immortal Sects Alliance. Its leader was in seclusion. The leader's son, who had been her senior brother, sided with Renee, called her account slander against her father, and blocked her way. She showed him an orb holding images her mother had left. He sent word to Baron to check her story. Baron came, said there was no threat, and whipped her. The sect's chief disciple then confirmed what she had said.
