Janet married Job Sterling, a wealthy widower, and moved with her daughter Jackie into his estate. Janet intended the marriage as a con and planned to empty his fortune. The two of them had spent most of their lives running cons and had never been caught, because Janet was good at it. Jackie had wanted for a while to set her own rules and run her own jobs. In the house she met Andrew, Job's son, an artist who saw through the front she kept up. After that she began to want a life away from her mother and the cons, and to see what her mother had done to people. Janet was not willing to let her go. She tightened her hold and threatened to destroy everything.
