Survive the First Night

Wesley wakes up in a body and a world that are not his, in a household where his wife Mélina and her lover are already mixing poison for him. He gets out of the house in time. The next day his childhood friend invites him to a banquet, and the invitation is a plan to wipe out his whole new family. Cornered at the table, Wesley claims there is a thousand taels of gold hidden in the city, and the lie buys him the room. He tries to make a living selling ceramics and is framed for a crime by a local dealer. With nothing left he passes himself off as a tenant farmer and enters the Jaubray family's contest to choose a son-in-law. He wins it with a couplet, marries into the house, and uses the marquis's standing to go back after the people who moved against him, coming out of it with a name and money. Then on the wedding night everything returns to where it started.
