Nicole wanted a marriage. What she got, over three years, was a husband who treated her as a supply of blood for another woman. Alexander is in a relationship with his mistress, Chloe, and when Chloe needs blood he takes Nicole's. He controls where Nicole goes and he hurts her, and she stays. Alexander is not a man who lets go of a possession, and leaving him means being followed. Nicole leaves anyway. She takes divorce papers with her and walks out of the house, and she goes back into the wealthy circles she came from and takes up her old place there. Alexander comes after her.
