The Black thrones

The elder Mr Blackthorne dies after a long illness and leaves a will his sons did not expect. To teach them a lesson he had added a condition about an arranged marriage. His twin sons, John and Jack, are to compete for the hand of Evangeline Herrera, the daughter of his caretaker. Evangeline's mother agrees to it because she thinks her daughter is wasting her young years, and a marriage into the Blackthorne family would lift them all. John falls in love with Evangeline the first time he sees her, and when it looks like she feels the same he thinks he has already won. Jack wants her too, and wants her to himself, though what he feels is not what his brother feels. He is clever enough to get her mother on his side, promising her expensive things if she can get her daughter to choose him.
