From Cancelled to Untouchable

Vera Chu, a graduate student, points at Todd in the library and says he filmed her without her knowing. A cut video and a couple of lines online turn him into the target of a pile-on. He had come back to Northfield three days earlier, after three years shut in a lab running experiments, to see Manon, the girlfriend who waited through it. While the pile-on runs, Kevin, son of the businessman Gerard, uses the scandal as cover to go after Manon. He sets up an evening, drugs her drink, and Todd gets there in time and puts him in his place. Kevin goes to his father, who has ties to organized crime in the South District, and the two of them have Todd and Manon taken. Vera, with the truth already out, twists the account again to keep the pile-on going. Then Todd's identity comes out. He is a national scholar without equal. Vera is expelled and dropped by the firm where she was interning, and Gerard's name goes with his standing.
