Not Your Villainess

Adele Cross wants to stop working. She has spent life after life moving through small story worlds on assignment, fixing other people's plots with a cat-shaped system called Kitten that complains at her, and neither of them can say how many worlds it has been. The reward is finally granted: a retirement world, no plot, no missions, just a quiet life. The system has a bug. It drops her into another small world instead, in the body of the villainess, the one everyone in the script hates and who is written to get the worst ending. Adele has died for other people's stories enough times. She puts the role down and breaks the script to see what happens when the villain refuses to play her part.
