Claire Newton promises her grandmother, who is dying, that she will have a child. Right after that she finds proof that her husband Miles has been unfaithful, and she ends the seven-year marriage. Her friend Maggie pushes her out, and drunk, Claire spends the night with a callboy called Matt. She has night blindness and never sees his face clearly. Matt is Dominic, who studied alongside her and Miles at university and was in love with her then, and who left to study abroad and lost her. He has come back rich. By day he runs his business, by night he takes the callboy work with her on purpose, set on getting her to fall for him.
