From Zero to Hero

Gavin wants to put his family's house back on its feet, and nothing about his position allows it. The fortune that several generations put together is gone. There are debts everywhere, some of them to a casino, at high interest. The heir whose body he is in has a reputation as a wastrel. None of that was his doing. Gavin was a special forces soldier, and an accident put his soul into the body of an heir in an earlier dynasty who had been running through his family's money. That heir had been set up at a casino by a man there, had borrowed at rates he could not pay, and had been beaten to death by the casino's men. Gavin woke up in the body where it lay. The first thing he did was see off the collectors who came to the door for the debt. Then he worked out what the heir had done, the money gone across several generations and the holes and trouble it left behind. While he was still taking that in, the woman his family had betrothed him to as a child, a general in her own right, arrived to ask that the engagement be ended. He kept the humiliation, and he swore to bring the house back up and to settle with the man who had set the casino trap.
