Pitch Perfect, Petty Served

Shen Nian wrote the songs and Shen Weiwei's name went on them. Their father Shen Nanshan ran it that way, the stepmother Zhao Jin handled the household side of it, and what was put in Shen Nian's medicine over those years cost her the use of her legs. Once Weiwei was being called the queen of the charts, Shen Nian was of no further use to any of them. She wakes in the week she first fell ill, with all of that still ahead. She keeps writing for Weiwei and behaves as expected at home while the family prepares for the new song showcase. Meanwhile she gets word to her mother's father, Old Qin, who has money and standing and had been fed a false account of things by Shen Nanshan for years. On the night of the final she goes on as an unlisted challenger. She sings against Weiwei's set, then says in front of the audience which of Weiwei's songs came from her. The family produces documents to counter her and the documents come apart under inspection. She also has recordings of what Shen Nanshan and Zhao Jin had been putting in her medicine, and those reach back past her own case into what happened to her mother, who was Old Qin's daughter and wrote work that Shen Nanshan took.
