A Drop of Blood, A Lifetime of Love

Matthew Wright wants his mother to walk again, and he has no money to make it happen. His mother, Alaina Carlton, loved William Newman once. Her parents forced her into a marriage she did not want, her mind gave way under the strain, and she ended up as the wife of a man in a remote mountain village, where she was treated badly. Matthew was born there. Then an accident took the use of both her legs, and her husband walked out on the two of them. People around them picked on the mother and the boy, and Matthew grew up set on finding a cure for her. To bring in money he runs a stall on the street. While he is working it one day, a car hits him. The man who happens to be at the scene is William, who takes him to the hospital, and once the doctors have looked the boy over, William learns something about Matthew's parentage.
