Thea Upton read the marriage agreement that came up the mountain as a challenge letter. She came down to answer it and married the man she had come to fight, Tyler Aston. She trained in medicine and the esoteric arts under a master, and none of it is much help in the Aston house. Her father works on her with guilt to get what he wants out of the match. Her stepsister Rose Upton brings the rest of the family along to make things hard for her, and Thea cuts them off rather than sit through it. Then there is Tyler, who sleepwalks every night, comes to her, kisses and bites her and tries to make the paper marriage a real one. She has treated things nobody else could and she cannot work out what is wrong with him.
