Gone Wife

A car went into the water with Evie in it. Her husband and his close friend Beatris put it there. Evie was the older of twins. The younger one, Jean, is an heiress and had been living abroad, and she came home when the news reached her. At the funeral Jean took her sister's place in the coffin and let the room see her sit up, so that as far as everyone in the house was concerned Evie had not died after all. Jean kept the name and went at the question of what had been done to her sister. People in the house put things in her way. What she turned up went deeper than the two who had been in the car.
