Survived? I’m More Than Alive

The family is in the middle of a banquet when the son they have treated coldly for three years bursts in, announces to the whole room that he is the real son of the house, and lays out in front of the guests how the family has dealt with him over those three years. The body is his own, though what is moving it now is a spirit that came in after he died. Chad, who had been living as the family's heir in his place, buried him alive. He died in the ground with the grudge unsettled, and he gave himself up as an offering so that a vengeful spirit could take the body and collect on his behalf. At the banquet Chad falls back on an old trick and stages an injury to make himself look like the victim. The heir takes the act apart in front of everyone and tells the family he is finished with the house. His eldest sister catches sight of the scars all over his body, and her manner toward him changes on the spot. She orders him to come home, and he refuses, taking her threat as one more reason to carry on with the reckoning. Chad keeps setting traps for him after that. He turns each one back, and a little more of Chad's real nature comes into the open every time it happens.
