Where the Heart Rests

Thomas Wilson keeps telling Katelyn Smith that he loves her, and she keeps turning him down. She is divorced and raising her daughter alone, and she grew up in the countryside, and she holds all of that against herself. He is the heir of a family that fell into disgrace for a time, and when he was at his lowest she helped him. His feelings for her started there. Katelyn has opened a small diner in her hometown and put her savings into repairing the old family house. Jack Todd and his family want her married off and keep pressing her toward it. At one point her diner is wrecked. Thomas steps in when the Todds threaten her, recovers what she is owed for the diner, and confesses to her again.
