Kane wants an ordinary life with his wife and nothing more than that. He led the martial world once, under the name Black Dragon, and he has put all of it away. A woman from the Frostpeak Sect and her son come after him to settle a score. The Aegis Bureau takes the disturbance as its opening and starts moving against martial artists in general, so Kane has to fight where people can see him, and after that everyone knows who he is. Assassins and Bureau agents keep arriving. One of them is Ash Yates, who takes the abilities of the people he beats. As the fights go on, Kane pieces together how the sect, the Bureau and the men sent at him fit together, and it becomes clear that the people he has been fighting were put in front of him by somebody else.
