Kelly is an Omega carrying debts she cannot pay, and her wolf is dying. The condition can be held off by contact with a mate. Her mate is unfaithful, and she leaves him. She then meets Max, the strongest Alpha in the North, and finds that contact with him restores her the same way. She tries to seduce him. The attempt goes badly and ends with her hired as a tutor to his son. She teaches the boy and gets on with him, and Max, who kept his distance at first, comes round to her. Max's daughter then accuses Kelly of poisoning the boy. Max turns on her, and she has to answer the accusation herself.
