Edwin Boyle wakes with New Year's Eve still ahead of him and everything that happened on it already in his memory. He knows his father-in-law took his research and put the family name on it. He knows about the university student his wife had been paying for, and about the two of them meeting that night, and about what they did to him when he walked in on it. He works in artificial intelligence. He kept that quiet when he married into the family and moved in with them, and for three years he cooked and ran the house and let his best results go to them without arguing, and each time he gave way his father-in-law took a little more. This time he does not give way. He starts taking apart the company his father-in-law built on the stolen work.
