Crawling Out of Death

Stella Sterling and her husband register their marriage and are driving home when the car crashes. She wakes to find him working on her body. He is a funeral director, and he tells her she died several hours earlier and that what they are having now is a conversation with her spirit. She does not accept it. She keeps testing it, over and over, looking for something that proves she is still breathing, and eventually she establishes that she never died at all. What she finds along with that is her husband and her best friend, who have been involved with each other for some time. The crash and the death were arranged by the two of them together.
