Nina was taken in as a small child by a woman with a birthmark on her face, and she grew up believing her adoptive mother wanted the best for her. The mother's hope for her was a rich marriage. When Nina came home excited with the news that a billionaire meant to marry her, the mother dropped the act. She had wanted Nina's bloodline all along.
