Elena and Nolan were together before his family went bankrupt. To save them, and to save his life, she went to a billionaire named Victor and gave him her heart in exchange for an investment of 30 billion. Then she told Nolan she had only ever wanted money, and she left him on the day he buried his parents. Seven years later Nolan runs a business empire of his own and is engaged to Sophia, who was the one who arranged the collapse of his family in the first place. Elena works as a delivery rider. She lives on an artificial heart and is trying to raise the money for surgery for her four year old daughter Mia, who is sick. When Nolan sees her again he assumes the story she told him seven years ago was true, and he treats her accordingly. The evidence about Sophia comes out slowly.
