The Mafia King Kept Me in the Dark

Isabelle is 24 and at university. Her brother Gavin controls where she goes. In the course of getting away from him she pulls an elderly man, Myron, clear of an accident and loses her sight in it. Myron is the grandfather of Nathan Bernardi, who heads the mafia. Myron arranges a marriage between Isabelle and Nathan and it is held at short notice. Nathan does not give her his name or his position. He presents himself as a man with no money and keeps that up in the household. He treats her as a possible party to whatever Gavin is doing. They live as husband and wife. Isabelle, who cannot see him, takes him for the poor man he says he is, and the two of them grow attached. Gavin later sells her a second time, to a rival of Nathan's.
