She Speaks in Spears

Maya Thornton held the title of Marquis Valen. A hard birth left her weak, and while she was in that state her husband and his mistress worked together and killed her. Six years on there was a girl called Talia York in a military household, small and vain and fond of display, who had taken up with an idle young man and gone behind the back of her fiance, Tristan Wren, deputy commander of the Regal Army. Maya woke up in that girl's body. She put on men's clothes and followed Tristan to the camp without telling him anything. The drill ground was the kind of ground she had known best in her first life, and she trained on it to get her fighting back, with the capital and the people who had killed her still to come.
