Black Hawk Rises

There is a war hero the army calls Black Hawk. Nobody knows what he looks like. He enlists again as a private under the name James Wayne and takes the treatment that comes with the rank, because his wife was murdered and the answer is somewhere inside this unit. His own brother, Max Wayne, is the one who works hardest at humiliating him, and then betrays him outright. What Max has hold of turns out to be bigger than family spite. The trail from his wife's death runs into a conspiracy to sell out the country, and the trials James is put through are meant to finish him. He works his way back up through them and starts pulling the plot apart. Along the way there is Elina, and the beginning of something with her, though whose side she is standing on is not settled.
