OMG! Fortune’s Driving Me Nuts!

Jay Lynn's parents came and got him. He had made his name in investing, got tired of the fighting inside companies, and moved to the countryside to farm and be left alone, and they brought him back anyway. There were terms: he was to inherit a fortune running into the billions, and there was a marriage they had arranged for him. He worked out that the fastest way home was to be disowned, so he spent like a rich man's son with nothing to do and put large sums into industries that were on their way out. Every one of those bets came in. The sectors turned, the money came back multiplied, and the daughter of the richest man in the city took an interest in him. Then the family's own holdings ran into trouble that nobody around his father could deal with.
