Lina wants a normal life with her blended family in the house they have just moved into, a large isolated property with a basement Lina's exorcist ancestors sealed generations ago. A locked cabinet down there holds a puppet with a warning taped to it that says no filming. Her stepsister Chloe, who wants online followers more than she wants to follow rules, picks the lock, takes the puppet out and records herself imitating its movements for a short video. The clip spreads fast online. Within days Chloe's body starts to change. Her joints stiffen and click, her skin takes on a wooden grain, and her family notices she moves differently when she thinks no one is watching. Lina, who carries the exorcist bloodline but has never had to use it, starts trying to find out what the puppet actually is and who sealed it in the first place. The transformation does not stop. Chloe's craving shifts from attention to blood, and the family that once dismissed Lina's warnings now has to decide what to do about the thing Chloe is becoming. Lina digs through old records tied to the house and the grudge behind the sealed puppet, looking for whatever it takes to undo what her stepsister started, while the rest of the household tries to keep Chloe contained and out of the neighbors' sight.
