Heather Phillips cannot speak. Her husband, William Manning, has a mistress, and to keep the mistress happy he asks Heather for a divorce he says will only be on paper. He is certain she has nowhere to go without him, since the car accident took her speech. Heather has already given up on him, and she files the divorce for real. Sebastian Hart, the heir to the Hart Group, has liked Heather for years without telling her. When word reaches him he flies back overnight and asks her to marry him. She goes with him and does not look back. William works out what he has done afterwards. In the time she spends with Sebastian, Heather learns how long he had felt that way, and with him she settles on what she wants to do with her life.
