The Disciple They Betrayed Was Never Weak

A hundred years ago the heartbreak grass clan on Spirit Mountain was wiped out by lightning out of the sky. One plant lived. She took the shape of honeysuckle, entered the Medicine King Valley as a disciple, and set about repaying the master she believed had saved her. For years she let him take her flesh and blood to treat the junior disciple he favored, and she read that as him caring for her. The junior disciple was struck with a love poison. The master dug out her inner core to cure the girl, and told her she had been a tool from the beginning. She said then what she was, heartbreak grass, the most poisonous thing alive, and said the girl would be dead in three days. Nobody in the valley believed her. They forced a life and death pact on her instead. She let her blood run loose, which brought disaster down on the valley, and she threw herself into the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes to burn every bit of poison out of herself. The young lord of Spirit Mountain found her close to death and took her in. She drew in the spirit power around her, and when she woke she went back for the people who had used her.
