Betrayal On The Monster Island

A passenger plane goes down on an island nobody can name, and the ground it lands on is full of monsters. Within days the survivors stop pretending. Food and shelter are the only currency, and people sell each other out for a share of either. Feng Chen is a security guard, low in every ranking the group invents, ignored when decisions get made. He also carries memories of a life he already lived through this, so he knows which parts of the jungle kill you and which plants are worth the walk. He starts by picking a defensible spot and walling it in. The people who attach themselves to him get fed and get to sleep behind something solid, and in exchange they follow the rules he sets, which are harsher than anything the group had before. The beasts test the walls. The people who mocked him at the crash site come to the gate asking to be let in, and he decides the terms. His hold over the island widens from that one fortified clearing outward.
