A Father's Regret

Sophie knows what happened to her daughters at the camp, and she has decided her husband James will not hear it from her. He is getting ready to celebrate his promotion, under the impression that the girls are being disciplined and will come back better behaved. The twins had just turned five. James sent them to a camp that corrects children's behavior, to please the woman he loved before Sophie. Sophie begged him not to and then went after them, and she reached the camp too late. The people running it had been beating the girls. Sophie is working out what she will do to James, step by step, while he goes on with the arrangements for the party.
