I See Monsters And My Own Death!

The apocalypse is still a week off and nobody knows it is coming. A system built for the collapse switches on early anyway, attaches itself to one young man in an ordinary week, and starts handing him missions. Clearing them wakes a skill that lets him read what anything around him will become after the world ends. The willow by the road reads as a blood-drinking monster. The stray black dog he passes is rated as a biting-class beast, and even a boxed lunch off a shelf comes up as rare anti-toxin rations. None of the missions are hard, so he spends the week buying supplies and putting them where he will want them. Then he reads his own attribute, and it says burned corpse. He has the week to work out where that comes from and get around it, in a city where nothing has happened yet.
