Rise of the Roman Warlord

Bruce wakes up in ancient Rome in the body of a man who owns a small estate and has no standing with anyone. Slaves are worked to death, the nobility take what they want, and a landholder of his size has no protection. What he has that nobody else does is knowing what happens next: Julius Caesar, whose name will run through everything, is at this point a child. Bruce works from there. He uses what he knows from his own time to make his land produce, buys and frees men to build a fighting force out of them, and starts refusing the demands the great houses make on someone his size. The nobles move against him. He handles them one at a time, taking their clients and their land, and the estate turns into something with an army behind it. He means to have Rome, and to be the one name in it.
