The Legend of Zu

People in this world are born again after they die, and a promise made in one life can be kept in the next. A thousand years ago a man founded the Sindu sect, along with the Sword sect that broke off from it, and he trained the woman he loved. The two of them agreed before dying that they would come back and go on from where they had stopped. She grew up with money and runs a company now. His own return went differently: he is ragged, shows no talent anyone can see, and lives as a beggar, and the members of the sect he founded take him for nothing. She finds him on the street and brings him home, then works out that the beggar she picked up was her teacher a thousand years earlier. He begins getting his cultivation back and moving toward the place in the sect that used to be his.
