Commander's Obsession: Falling for My Galactic Bride

Karlie Scott is married off to Anton Bright, the strongest fighter and highest-ranking commander on Alpha Planet, and she spends her first weeks as his wife trying to get the arrangement annulled. She files, argues, and looks for ways out of the house. The man she is trying to leave frightens the rest of the Empire. Officers do not contradict him and his rulings are not appealed. Alone with Karlie he puts all of that away. He follows her from room to room, keeps his voice low, and when she raises the subject of separation his eyes go red and he asks whether she is going to abandon him again. That word again points back to something between them that predates the marriage contract, though he does not explain it. He answers her demands with softness, agrees with whatever she says, and then finds a reason she should stay another day. Each concession narrows the ground she was standing on. Karlie keeps drafting her exit while the prince builds a version of himself she has more and more trouble walking away from, and he has no intention of ever signing the annulment.
