Billions-Induced Madness

The richest man in Melport dies in a car crash. His daughter Rebecca Shaw carries the ashes back to the Shaw family house, where the relatives take her for a poor country cousin and treat her accordingly. Her cousin, envious of her looks, goes at her with a fruit knife in the middle of an argument and draws blood. Then the dead man's adopted son turns up and confirms in front of everyone that Rebecca is the heir. The uncle's household goes from mockery to panic in an afternoon, scrambling to undo what they have said and done to her. Word then spreads that Rebecca has died in hospital, which is not true, and the reactions to that news do the rest of the work. The relatives who bullied her are not the worst thing in the house, and the person actually behind what happened to her father is someone nobody has been watching.
