When Love Departed

Evelyn has been married to Jack for nine years. On their ninth anniversary she finds out he is having an affair with Natalie, his secretary, who is pregnant. Jack does not apologize. He breaks a wine glass against Evelyn's head and makes her kneel and apologize to Natalie. He then has 800ml of blood taken from Evelyn as treatment for Natalie. Evelyn has a serious heart condition and he goes ahead anyway. Later there is a fire in the house. Jack carries Natalie out and leaves Evelyn inside. She gets out alive. After that Evelyn stops loving him. She leaves signed divorce papers behind, along with a family heirloom, cuts contact with everyone connected to the marriage and moves to London to start over. Jack, who ran the marriage on the assumption that his wife would forgive anything, is left begging.
